Early DuPont Button

DuPont, the giant material science corporation that makes everything from the material the covers golf balls to Teflon for non-stick frying pans, had a humble start. This button from the early 1900s is advertising one of the company’s first products, smokeless gunpowder. The big breakthrough didn’t come until the 1920s when DuPont started getting into polymers.
