1956 Eisenhower/Nixon Campaign Button
July 12, 2011
This one inch button is from the 1956 Presidential re-election campaign of Dwight D. Eisenhower and his running mate Richard M. Nixon. The pair were known affectionately as Ike and Dick.
Ike and Dick won the 1956 election in a landslide over Democratic candidate Adlai Stevenson (who they had also beaten four years earlier) and his running mate C. Estes Kefauver.
The 1956 election was the last U.S. presidential election in which either one of the major candidates was born in the 19th century (Eisenhower was born in 1890).
